DI Helps Ford Motor Company Break World Record
On April 28, 2009 Ford Motor Company wrapped up what turned out to be a 69-hour exercise called the “1,000 Mile Challenge.” An unmodified 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid made its way around Washington, D.C. for a record breaking 1,455.7 miles on roughly $37 of gas. A team of Ford engineers, NASCAR driver Carl Edwards, and hypermiling champion Wayne Gerdes took charge behind the wheel to see how far they could get in the new hybrid. Surpassing everyone’s expectations, the Ford Fusion broke a world record for a gasoline powered midsized sedan.
Direct Impact supported Ford in their endeavor by providing logistical and media support, which ranged from coordinating with local media outlets to driving a car in the convoy. DI’s integrated work with Burson-Marsteller and Ogilvy PR on the “1,000 Mile Challenge” was recognized in PRWeek.
