Celebrating More Than 20 Years in the Industry

Direct Impact first opened its doors in 1988, and has grown to be a powerful presence in the field of community relations, having worked on some of the most pressing and challenging issues of its time. Direct Impact specializes in grassroots public affairs, public education and corporate reputation, and since its inception, has pioneered some of the most revolutionary communications styles, including its signature campaign-style approach that in recent years has defined the field of grassroots communications.

“We are proud of our history and the role we have played in defining grassroots outreach, both as a stand-alone tool and as an imperative asset to any large-scale communications campaign,” said Dave DenHerder, CEO of Direct Impact. “DI has been a pioneer in this industry, and we continue to find new ways to perfect community outreach for the good of everyone involved.”

In 2002, Direct Impact became a wholly owned subsidiary of Burson-Marsteller, and today operates independently and as a strategic partner and ally to many of the firms that are part of the renowned WPP family of companies.

DI has also celebrated significant corporate growth, marked by the official opening of its doors in the Dallas and Chicago markets. Senior leaders stand at the helm of these initiatives, and work closely with DI headquarters as well as local Burson-Marsteller colleagues to facilitate national and regional opportunities.
